Andrews Senior Care is proud to announce that our homes have earned the Accreditation Canada Primer Designation, making Andrews homes the only long-term care facilities on P.E.I. that are part of both the Provincial LTC Inspection Program and Accreditation Canada’s Program.
The decision followed an on-site survey in January 2024. The Accreditation Primer is Andrews’ first step on the Qmentum accreditation journey. Qmentum, Accreditation Canada’s innovative accreditation program, is based on expert consultation and uses the latest research and evidence to drive quality improvement and patient safety. Steps taken throughout the accreditation process help us understand what we are doing well and where we can improve when evaluated against national standards.
“This is a proud moment for our team,” said Mizan Uddin, the Group GM for Andrews Senior Care. “All of our homes worked together over a period of two years to achieve this, united in our dedication to continuous improvement in the resident experience. We feel that some aspects of the accreditation program should be included in the Province’s Annual Inspection Program, but that the inspection program should remain the main core mechanism for determining quality of care in P.E.I. facilities. Inspections take place annually, whereas accreditation site visits are only every four years”.
Accreditation Canada is an independent organization dedicated to improving outcomes through assessments against global standard, alongside the Health Standards Organization (HSO). For more information about Accreditation Canada go to www.accreditation.ca.
Andrews Senior Care operates long-term care homes in Stratford, Charlottetown and Summerside.
